Southeast Texas Metal Works
Southeast Texas Metal Works was founded and operated by Richard Purkey in an 8,000 square foot sheet metal shop.
1989
Expands To Orange TX
Southeast Texas Metal Works expanded to the newly purchased Orange, Texas shop. Added heavy structural and plate to fab capabilities in Buna under newly formed corporation - Southeast Texas Industries.
1991
ASME Certified
With exemplary fabrication output STI Group achieves ASME Code Stamp Certification for pressure vessels and equipment.
1992
Added Pipe Fabrication Capabilities
With increased work load and need for larger production capacity, the original Buna fabrication shop is expanded and pipe fabrication is added to STI Group's growing services.
1997
Began Rig Fabrication
What started as something small...fabricating a single component for a land based drilling rig, would prove to be a giant turning point in STI Group's history.
1997
Begin Round Mud System Fabrication
STI Group fabricates a first of its kind "Round Mud System" for land based drilling.
1998
Opened Bridge City Shop
In order to fulfill a growing demand, STI Group broadens its fabrication capacity and acquires new shop facilities in Bridge City, TX.
2000
Introduced Boiler Unit
With STI Group's experience in fabricating Power Boiler components the company dedicates a field services crew for installation, erection and maintenance of this equipment - laying the foundation for future growth.
2001
Field Services Unit
STI Group's expertise in fabricating for the surrounding Industrial Plants vaulted the company to start a full scale Field Services division. Specifically Focusing on Capital Construction, Plant Maintenance, and Turnarounds/Outages.
2001
Opened Vidor Shop
Diversifying STI Group's core services leads to another expansion in shop capacity by acquiring a facility in Vidor, TX. Over 85,000 sq ft added.
2001
Mast & Substructure Fabrication
STI Group begins fabricating mast and substructure components for land based drilling rigs.
2002
First Fabricated Land Based Rig
The company manufactures first complete land based drilling rig - processing over 500 tons of steel.
2004
Iraq Al-Mussaib Project
Awarded a 250 million dollar project to fabricate and construct the Al-Mussaib power plant in Iraq.
2006
Opened Port Arthur Facility
Due to increasing volume, the need for a centralized detail work facility was met when STI Group expanded to the Port Arthur, TX facility.
2007
Opened Pharr, TX Fabrication Shop
STI Group extends its reach across Texas and purchases Pharr, TX fabrication facility.
2007
Industrial Services Bridge City Headquarters
STI Group centralizes their Industrial Services division in the heart of the Gulf Coast Petrochemical Industry - Bridge City, TX.

Opened Beaumont Facility
To supplement the company's existing downstream presence STI Group opens a pipe fabrication hub to serve local refineries.
2008
Exchanger Services
In order to further the reach of the Industrial Services Division - STI Group hires experienced leadership to enter the exchanger market.
2009
Drilling Rig Services
STI Group has evolved into one of the worlds largest land based drilling rig manufacturers - the decision to provide field services to rigs is a seamless transition for the company.
2010
Motiva CEP Pipe Fabrication
STI Group plays integral role in expanding Motiva Enterprises Port Arthur Refinery into the nation's largest refinery.
2010
STI Oilfield Services
With the U.S. shale boom underway STI Group uses their energy market expertise in the midstream area of the market by providing pipeline construction as well as general midstream construction services.
2011
Began Midstream Operations
To support a rapid expansion of projects in the Marcellus Shale, STI Group opens two satellite yards/offices in Pennsylvania.
2012
Expanded Buna Fabrication Shop
STI Group continues growth in the flagship Buna, TX facility with newly constructed 25k square ft pipe shop.
2013
$16 Million Huntsman Turnaround
STI Group completes local noteworthy Huntsman 2013 F&G Unit T&I - totaling 167,661 man hours on time - starting 2013 off right for many similar projects throughout the year.

Opened Jasper Office
Broke ground on a Midstream Corporate Office in Jasper, TX.

Fabricated 300th Drilling Rig
A major milestone for STI Group as they build and assemble their 300th complete land based drilling rig.

Over 450,000 Sq. Ft of Shop Space
Fulfilling another need for enlarged capacity, STI Group expands by adding a 76,000 sq ft McAllen, TX facility giving the company over 450,000 sq ft of shop fabrication space.
