Compressor stations are placed at regular intervals along a natural gas pipeline and act as stations where specialized compression equipment is housed and maintained in order to ensure that the natural gas in the pipeline is kept at a proper pressure gradient. The primary component of any compressor station is the compressor unit, which does the work of compressing natural gas to the desired PSI level for the pipeline.
