On Friday, October 24, 2014 STI Group will hold the 10th Annual Richard Purkey Memorial Golf Tournament. This annual event will once again be hosted at Bayou Din Golf Club and will benefit the Southeast Texas Food Bank. The Southeast Texas Food Bank plays a crucial role in the fight against hunger in the Southeast Texas region.
Registration for the event will begin at 7:00 a.m. and will be followed by an 8:00 a.m. shotgun commencement for the four person team scramble-format tournament. Players will enjoy a variety of delicious food as they make their way through the 18 holes. Sign up for each four-player team is $500.
Tournament Sponsorship Opportunities
There are four recognized tiers of sponsorship for the tournament, each of which will earn the donating team a plaque and banner. Remember that proceeds will go to the Southeast Texas Food Bank and that the higher the sponsorship level the more hungry Texans they can feed.
- Bronze Sponsor, $500 – Includes hole sponsorship, plaque, and name on tournament banner. Will provide 2,000 meals to hungry Southeast Texas families.
- Silver Sponsor, $1,000 – Includes a team, hole sponsorship, plaque, and name on tournament banner. Will provide 4,000 meals to hungry Southeast Texas families.
- Gold Sponsor, $2,000 – Includes a team, hole sponsorship, plaque, and name on tournament banner. Will provide 10,000 meals to hungry Southeast Texas families.
- Platinum Sponsor, $5,000 – Includes a team, hole sponsorship, plaque, and name on tournament banner. Will provide 20,000 meals to hungry Southeast Texas families.
In addition to these formal sponsorship levels there is one other sponsorship option available:

About Hunger In Southeast Texas
Poverty and hunger are a major problem in Southeast Texas. About 25% of children in the area live below the poverty line, which puts them at a greatly elevated risk for going hungry. Hunger and poverty are also a problem for our elderly, with an estimated 15% of senior citizens in the area living below the poverty line. We cannot allow this to continue. Every dollar raised by the tournament will go to the Southeast Texas Food Bank and its efforts to fight hunger.

The Southeast Texas Food Bank
The Southeast Texas Food Bank provides a phenomenal amount of food to hungry households throughout the region. They serve over 20,000 households each month in the counties of Orange, Jasper, Newton, Sabine, Jefferson, Tyler, Hardin, and Polk. The Southeast Texas Food Bank is partnered without nonprofit agencies throughout these counties to help distribute the food. They also have six different programs which provide crucial aid to families in poverty: Backpack Program, Texas Second Chance, Mobile Pantry, Retail Store Pickup Program, School Tools, and Nutrition Education Classes.
Richard Purkey and STI Group
Over 35 years ago STI Group’s founder, Richard Purkey, opened his first small shop, which he called Southeast Texas Metal Works.
