Our client, Williams, is a North American midstream service provider of natural gas gatherers and processors. With a focus on managing large-scale operations, they have become one of the largest oil and gas companies in the industry through gathering, processing, storage, production and transportation.
As the Williams strategy called for an aggressive approach throughout the Marcellus Shale region, the distribution of natural gas by gathering lines would serve as the conduit for delivery to the end user. The welding and installation of the pipeline is an integral part of the process with specific requirements for speed, inspection, safety and overall pipe integrity. Williams knew that the selection of a pipeline installation partner is one that requires experience within the region, experience with gathering line construction and an acute focus on project management from beginning to end.
The STI Group Solution
Having an existing footprint in Pennsylvania and the Marcellus Shale region in general, STI Group was able to quickly mobilize a team of workers to execute on the job. Our project strategy and estimated timeline called for predicting potential bottlenecks and troubleshooting them ahead of time to continue on the scheduled pace.
Through our Midstream field services and gathering line construction division located in the Marcellus Shale, we were able to quickly and efficiently weld and install pipelines in Pennsylvania. This was accomplished in less than optimal terrain including rocky landscape at varying elevations and inclines.
- 16” Pipe
- Over 27,000 Feet of Gathering Line
- Difficult Terrain with Varying Elevation
- Inclement Weather
- Welded and Installed Gathering Lines
The project completed without incident and to the client’s satisfaction. All requirements were met and inspections passed allowing the pipeline to become a profitable delivery method for Williams’ midstream services.
