NACE INSPECTOR

Job Description

STI Group is seeking an experienced Level 2 NACE Inspector with an extensive background and experience in abrasive blasting and the application of protective coatings in an industrial field environment. The objective as the STI NACE Inspector is to provide a QA/QC representative at our subcontractor’s paint yard and field sites to ensure quality standards outlined in each project are met.  The inspector will also act as a coordinator between STI and the coater to resolve any issues that would hinder quality and schedule.  Constant contact with project management, shipping personnel, Client QA, and others alike as well as with each painting contractor is required.  The daily tasks involve visiting each coating facility, perform site inspections, review documentation, audit blasting profiles and ensure dry film thicknesses are being achieved and the final coat is visually acceptable.

STI Coating Inspector Certifications & Experience :
  • High School Education, GED, vocational training or equivalent experience.
  • NACE / AMPP Level 2
  • Must have 5 years of experience in abrasive blasting & painting
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a NACE level II inspector
  • Strong work ethic, initiative to excel and progress within the organization with a positive and professional attitude
Job Duties:
  • Must be able to travel to customer sites when needed including weekend travel
  • Good communication skills to communicate effectively and appropriately with customer representatives and other contractors/vendors and Company employees
  • Acquire, read, and follow job specific ITPs
  • Perform Paint Pre-job meetings
  • Review paint reports and verify information is compliant per client specifications and a quality product is being provided
  • Provide status reports to the Management Team
  • Acquire, read, and understand job specific Paint Specifications/Mfg. Specifications
  • Knowledge to properly inspect blast profiles and properly document in accordance with SSPC and NACE surface preparation standards and release for coatings
  • Coordinate inspections with customer representatives
  • Knowledge and experience applying protective coatings in a variety of industrial settings
  • Demonstrated ability to use wet and dry film gauges and other inspection instruments.
  • Experience mixing coatings and using product data sheets.
  • Experience in determining the cause of failures and preventative measures
  • Be aware of total numbers of spools at various contractors and monitor turnaround
  • Competent in accepting the final products and release for shipping
  • Report any issues that could hinder turnaround or throughput to the project manager
  • Make site visits and perform testing to investigate reported non-conformance
  • Advise STI upper management on overall performance of coating subcontractors
